Wallace Bay National Wildlife Area Trail (4 km)

The loop passes over a dyke, with a view of the river and marsh and numerous bird watching opportunities, before passing through mixed woods. The single-track, rooty path passes through wet stretches and travelers can expect to see wild roses, pheasants and green undergrowth.

Wallace and Area Museum Trails (4km)

Several short walking trails plus a 3-km wilderness trail all feature interpretative panels, sections of old-growth forest and a wide variety of plants and animals. Connects to the Trans Canada Trail.

Wentworth Hostel Trails (various distances)

The hostel maintains a large network of trails for skiing, mountain biking and hiking.

Trans Canada Trail – The Short Line (40 km)

This Trans Canada Trail provides outdoor enthusiast a chance to become one with nature, experience Nova Scotia's legendary wilderness and walk the paths of early explorers. The 40 km Short Line trail begins in the town of Oxford, meanders through the rural community of Pugwash and draws to an end near Upper Malagash. The trail is accessible for walking and hiking, cycling, horseback riding, and cross country skiing.

Hiking the Sunrise Trail

The Sunrise Trail will open your eyes to rolling farmlands, emerald green fields and sparkling blue waters. Follow scenic trails marked with salt marshes and tidal inlets and country roads winding along sandy shores. The Sunrise Trail will also satisfy your yearning to learn more about waterfowl and shorebirds; Wallace Bay is a popular breeding and staging area for over 168 species

High Head Hikes

This 11km hike is 3 hours in duration and is considered a moderately difficult hike, 1100 feet above sea level. As this is a charitable organization, a donation can be made in support of the local historical schoolhouse in Wentworth.

"Fox Trot" Walking Trail

A wonderful beachfront walking trail perfect for romantic sunset strolls or rent a bike for a self guided tour of the ocean front and the Northumberland Strait.
