A true globetrotter and one of Canada’s most famous chefs, Michael Smith is Prince Edward Island’s official food ambassador, the nation’s top-selling cookbook author, a food educator and Half Your Plate fruit and veggie champion. These days, he’s also the farming innkeeper at the restaurant property where he first came to fame, and a seaside Flavour Shack retailer. Regardless of the project or destination, Chef Michael Smith remains two constants, a leading professional chef and an always dedicated home cook.
Chef Michael Smith hosted Food Network Canada’s Chef Michael’s Kitchen, Chef at Home and Chef Abroad, seen in over 100 countries. In addition, he is a judge on Chopped Canada, and a digital innovator with his global web series, Lentil Hunter. And his 10th cookbook, 2016’s Real Food Real Good, again topped “The Globe & Mail” bestseller list. A true chef at large, Chef Michael Smith’s absolute favourite role is ‘Dad’ to three children. Led by Executive Chef Shane Robilliard, with resort resident horticulturalist Michael Stewart, Fox Harb’r Resort’s dining team places local sourcing at the heart of our gourmet Nova Scotia food & drink. So, this 1,100-acre oceanside retreat boasts two restaurants, and three greenhouses that produce most of the resort’s seasonal vegetables and herbs, as well as fruit trees. We make the jam served on our breakfast buffet. And in 2015, we established our own Nova Scotia resort vineyard.
