This October, beloved Nova Scotia musician, storyteller and modern-day troubador Bruce Guthro returns to Fox Harb’r Resort with a very special Songwriters’ Circle concert line-up of friends Jimmy Rankin, Joel Plaskett and Lennie Gallant.

Guthro says these intimate, sell-out Songwriters’ Circle shows are about revealing the mystery behind the process of writing songs and making music.

“As part of the Songwriters’ Circle audience, you get to sit like somebody in the living room of four artists.  It’s your chance to listen in as we talk about songwriting and where the songs, and stories, come from,” explains Guthro.

Songwriters’ Circle Creator Bruce Guthro

Bruce Guthro is an artist with a career spanning 40 years encompassing nearly every aspect of the entertainment industry.  He has captivated audiences around the world with his honest, straight to the heart songwriting and live performances that are as engaging and personable as the man himself. In his various musical roles, Bruce has sold over a million records, worldwide, his success always connected to his ability to connect with each and every audience. He has been hosting the Bruce Guthro Songwriters’ Circle around Nova Scotia and the Maritimes for over a dozen years, selling out and introducing all kinds of concert-goers to the craft, history and character behind the music and its creators.

Canadian Country & Folk Artist Jimmy Rankin

Jimmy Rankin is a renowned Canadian songwriter with a long string of hits for The Rankin Family and from his solo albums.  He joined the family group as a young teen, and soon became co-lead singer and songwriter of such classics as “North Country,” “You Feel The Same Way Too,” and “Movin On.”  His name is synonymous with East Coast sound and was one of the very first writers to bring it to a national and international audience.  His overcrowded mantle includes five Juno Awards, seven Canadian Country Music Awards, and a whopping 27 East Coast Music Awards. His music has taken him around the world, and lead to writing partnerships with some of the world’s best in Nashville and elsewhere.  But after years spend down South, he knew it was time to pack up the family and head home.

A Canadian Rock Musician & Songwriter Joel Plaskett

Joel Plaskett from rocking Halifax’s Marquee Club to performing for the masses at Massey Hall or touring the country with his father, Joel has forged a reputation as one of Canada’s most engaging performers and respected singer-songwriters.  His accolades over a quarter century include a Juno, numerous East Coast Music, Canadian Folk and Music Nova Scotia awards, and two Polaris short list nominations.  He is a versatile and ever-evolving artist. In all aspects of his work, Joel embraces both the communal and individual experiences music provides.  The way the music and words combine to connect with the listener, turning a minute into a moment out of time, reminding us that we aren’t alone.

Singer, Songwriter, Instrumentalist Lennie Gallant

Lennie Gallant, CM is a Canadian singer-songwriter and instrumentalist from Prince Edward Island.  His music crosses into folk rock and country music genres, while celebrating the musical heritage of his home province.  He has been presented with many awards for his performances and songwriting.  Gallant has released twelve albums or original songs which have won him a host of awards and nominations from the Juno’s, Les Prix Eloizes, and 18 East Coast Music Awards, including 2017 ECMA Entertainer of the Year.  His double CD of the 22 songs from his multimedia hit production, Searching for Abegweit, which ran for 140 shows, also won him an ECMA.  He was also named Canadian Folk Artist of the Year for 2016 and his song Peter’s Dream was voted one of the Top Ten East Coast Songs of All Time.
